Healthy ageing research in the veteran community

To The President and The Secretary

Royal Australian Regiment Association WA Branch

Good morning,

I was provided your contact information by a representative of the Office of the Hon Peter Tinley, who I understand wrote to you yesterday informing you of research we are conducting on healthy ageing in the veteran community.

The purpose of my email today is to introduce myself as your point of contact for the research, and provide you with details of the research that you can share with members of your organisation and wider veteran network by way of invitation to participate.

ABOUT THE RESEARCH

This research will help us to develop an evidence base to help target support for veterans where and when it is most needed. We are seeking volunteers who are ex-serving ADF members, male and female, aged between 60 and 75.

WHO IS CONDUCTING THE RESEARCH?

Phoenix Australia – Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health, at The University of Melbourne.

WHAT DOES PARTICIPATION INVOLVE?

Participation involves completing one questionnaire about healthy ageing. The questionnaire takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete, is anonymous, and needs to be completed by 31st December 2019.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

To participate by completing the questionnaire online, please use this link https://bit.ly/2DU99FV to access the detailed research information and the online questionnaire.

To participate by completing a pen and paper questionnaire, please contact Loretta Watson by telephoning 03 9035 5599 or emailing [email protected] to provide a postal address, and a study pack will be posted in the mail.

Participation via telephone for volunteers with a sight impairment can be arranged by contacting Loretta Watson using the contact information above.

I would be most happy to answer any questions that you have, and my full contact details appear below.

Thank you for your time. Your support of our research is sincerely appreciated.

Kind regards,
