The Commanding Officer would like to extend an invitation to all ex-members and/or their families of 2 RAR and 2/4 RAR that served in Malaya and Malaysia

It’s been many years since the veterans of Malaya and Malaysia have returned home from Operations. Malaya is a unique War, in that the soldier’s families accompanied them to war and lived in the country of conflict as well as it not actually being classed as a War but an Emergency. The 2/4 RAR Veterans were not even recognised until the late 1990s. So for Borneo and Malaya Veterans Day 2020 the 2 RAR Old Boys Reunion Committee have put together a Reunion to commemorate this long conflict. 2 RAR (Amphib) is fully supportive and will help facilitate the ‘Back to the Battalion Day’ including a commemorative service commemorative. Please get on board and come back to the Battalion and make and renew friendships.

Schedule of Activities

Saturday 29th August
In Morning or day before Arrival
5pm Meet and great at RSL ($10 per person)

Sunday 30th August
Free Day to see Townsville
Formal reunion Dinner at RSL ($70 per person)

Monday 31st August – Malaya and Borneo Veteran’s Day ($10 per person)
Back to the Battalion, Day at 2RAR (Amphib) including:
0900 to 1000 – Arrival at Battalion headquarters
1000 to 1100 – Memorial Service & wreath laying (Appropriate Dress, Tie & Medals to be worn)
Group Photos then Move to Edgar Towner VC Club
1100 to 1230 – Welcome by CO and Presentation on 2RAR (Amphib) and Display by soldiers
1230 to 1330 – BBQ lunch
1230 to 1700 – Bar Open, 2 RAR Historical Collection Open, Indoor Shooting Range Open
Please note: For entry to 2RAR Lavarack Barracks, you will require enclosed shoes and Photo ID, please bring a Hat and water bottle
